Remote Education: A Driver of Educational Sustainability and Effectiveness of Curriculum Plans

“Remote Education” forms a key driver for achieving sustainability in the educational process and ensuring the continuity of implementing curriculum plans in all schools across the country, especially in response to any emergent circumstances that require a shift to this innovative educational approach.
The announcement yesterday of the adoption of remote education in all schools for two days due to the current weather conditions in the country, along with the schools’ significant flexibility in immediately transitioning to this educational method, reflects the country’s success and leadership in establishing a comprehensive smart learning infrastructure that ensures continuity and efficiency in the educational process under any conditions.
- Smart Learning
The UAE has successfully developed an advanced smart learning system, from which the remote education system emerged, as a result of the forward-thinking vision of the country’s leadership. In 2012, the UAE launched the “Mohammed bin Rashid Smart Learning Initiative” to create a new educational environment in schools. This initiative included four main tracks: the first focused on transforming the classroom environment and implementing the concept of smart classrooms using intelligent collaborative software; the second focused on developing advanced electronic infrastructure in all schools; the third focused on developing a set of supplementary educational curricula; and the fourth provided various services to parents to monitor their children’s academic progress electronically, review their educational projects, provide feedback and suggestions, and exchange information with teachers and school administrations to enhance the role of the home in academic achievement and help parents understand the new educational developments in the school environment.
- Initiatives
As a result of these efforts, the UAE has established one of the most advanced and developed smart learning systems in the region. This success enabled the country to implement a distinctive remote education approach during the COVID-19 pandemic, which received significant global recognition.
To ensure the safety and reliability of this approach, the UAE launched the “Aqdar Safe Digital Schools” initiative to establish smart security infrastructure in schools, making the UAE the first country in the world to apply the concept of the digitally safe school to all its public and private schools according to European Union standards for internet safety.
- Global Programs
The impact of the UAE’s smart educational initiatives extends beyond local borders to the entire world.
One of the most prominent initiatives is the “Digital School Initiative,” a project of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. It is the first fully integrated and accredited Arab digital school that provides smart and flexible remote education to students from various social, economic, and educational backgrounds, from any country in the world. This school offers a modern curriculum based on the latest innovation and artificial intelligence technologies, enhancing students’ abilities for self-learning and acquiring knowledge and skills in various fields.
- International Recognition
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has recommended the “Madrasa” platform as a reliable source of quality educational content in Arabic, covering various academic subjects and aligning with both Arab and global curricula. It meets the requirements of remote learning systems.
UNESCO highlighted that this platform has a strong user base, which enhances its impact and effectiveness. It helps schools and teachers facilitate remote learning for students in Arabic under various circumstances and from any location. UNESCO considers it one of the distinguished and reliable content platforms alongside other open remote learning platforms and applications in the Arab region.
The UAE believes that education and the continuity of learning are guarantees for sustained development and progress in nations. Thanks to its investment in smart education over more than a decade, the UAE has successfully provided a systematic educational process that runs smoothly without being hindered by any challenges.
يشكل “التعليم عن بعد” محركا رئيسيا لتحقيق الاستدامة في العملية التعليمية، والاستمرارية في تطبيق الخطط الدراسية في مدارس الدولة كافة، في مواجهة أية تداعيات طارئة تتطلب التحول لهذا النهج التعليمي المبتكر.
وجاء الإعلان أمس عن اعتماد نظام التعليم عن بعد في جميع المدارس لمدة يومين نظرا للأحوال الجوية الحالية التي تشهدها الدولة، وما واكبه من مرونة كبيرة في المدارس بالتحول بشكل فوري إلى هذا النهج التعليمي، ليجسد نجاح الدولة وريادتها في ترسيخ بنية تحتية متكاملة للتعلم الذكي بما يضمن تحقيق الاستمرارية والكفاءة في العملية التعليمية تحت أية ظروف.
– التعلم الذكي
ونجحت دولة الإمارات في امتلاك منظومة متطورة للتعلم الذكي انبثق عنها نظام التعليم عن بعد، كثمرة للرؤية الاستشرافية لقيادة الدولة؛ إذ بادرت في العام 2012، بإطلاق “مبادرة محمد بن راشد للتعلم الذكي” لخلق بيئة تعليمية جديدة في المدارس، والتي تضمنت 4 مسارات اختص الأول منها بتغيير البيئة الصفية، وتطبيق مفهوم الصفوف الذكية واستخدام برمجيات تشاركية ذكية، فيما ركز المسار الثاني على تطوير بنية تحتية إلكترونية متقدمة في جميع المدارس، والثالث على تطوير مجموعة من المناهج التعليمية المساندة للمنهاج الأصلي، فيما اعتنى المسار الرابع للمبادرة بتوفير خدمات متعددة لأولياء الأمور لمتابعة تحصيل أبنائهم إلكترونيا والاطلاع على مشاريعهم التعليمية وإبداء الملاحظات والاقتراحات وتبادل المعلومات مع المدرسين ومع إدارات المدارس حول التطور التعليمي لأبنائهم بما يسهم في تعزيز دور البيت في التحصيل العلمي وتفهم أولياء الأمور لطبيعة التطورات التعليمية الجديدة في البيئة المدرسية.
– مبادرات
ونتيجة لهذه الجهود، تمكنت دولة الإمارات من ترسيخ واحدة من منظومات التعلم الذكي الأكثر تطورا وتقدما في المنطقة، وأثمر ذلك نجاحها في تطبيق نهج مميز للتعليم عن بعد خلال فترة جائحة كورونا حظي بتقدير عالمي كبير.
كما حرصت الدولة، لضمان أمان وموثوقية هذا النهج، على إطلاق مبادرة “أقدر للمدارس الآمنة رقمياً” لإرساء بنية أمنية ذكية لدى المدارس، لتصبح دولة الإمارات أول دولة في العالم تطبق مفهوم المدرسة الآمنة رقمياً على جميع مدارسها الحكومية والخاصة وذلك وفق معايير الاتحاد الأوروبي للإنترنت الآمن.
– برامج عالمية
وتجاوز تأثير المبادرات التعليمية الذكية التي أطلقتها دولة الإمارات الحدود المحلية وأمتد إلى العالم أجمع.
ومن أبرز هذه المبادرات “مبادرة المدرسة الرقمية” أحد مشاريع مؤسسة مبادرات محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم العالمية، وأول مدرسة رقمية عربية متكاملة ومُعتمَدة، توفر التعليم عن بُعد بطريقة ذكية ومرنة للطلاب من شتى الخلفيات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والمستويات التعليمية، ومن أي بلد في العالم؛ إذ تقدم هذه المدرسة منهاجاً تعليمياً عصرياً، يستند إلى أحدث تقنيات الابتكار والذكاء الاصطناعي، بما يعزز من قدرات الطلاب على التعلّم الذاتي واكتساب المعارف والمهارات في مختلف المجالات.
– تقدير دولي
وأوصت منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة “اليونيسكو”، بمنصة “مدرسة”، كمصدر موثوق للمحتوى التعليمي النوعي باللغة العربية، الذي يغطي مختلف المواد الدراسية، بما يواكب المناهج العربية والعالمية، ويلبي متطلبات منظومات التعلم عن بعد.
وأشارت “اليونيسكو” إلى أن هذه المنصة تتمتع بقاعدة مستخدمين قوية، تعزز تأثيرها وأثرها، وتساعد المدارس والمعلمين على تيسير تعلّم التلاميذ باللغة العربية عن بعد، في مختلف الظروف، ومن أي مكان، واعتبرتها من المنصات ذات المحتوى المتميز والموثوق به، إلى جانب منصات وتطبيقات أخرى مفتوحة للتعلم عن بعد في المنطقة العربية.
وتؤمن دولة الإمارات أن التعليم واستمرارية التعلم هو الضمانة لاستمرارية التنمية والتقدم في الأوطان، وقد نجحت اليوم وبفضل استثمارها في التعليم الذكي على مدار أكثر من عشر سنوات، في توفير عملية تعليمية منهجية تسير بسلاسة ولا تعرقلها أية تحديات.
